In the space of just three days, COLAS – an internationally operational construction company – renovated the asphalt surface course of the D934, a major regional road in France, along a stretch measuring some 1.5 miles in length and averaging 20 feet in width. From January 1, 2027, warm mix asphalt (WMA) will become the mandatory type for road construction in Germany. Apart from the construction site, another clear point of focus is asphalt production, as the asphalt mixing plant will become a key factor in the successful adoption of WMA.

Bayerische Asphaltmischwerke (bam) recently decided to install a BLS 4 plant control system with the recipe generator option. In the plant in Luhe-Wildenau, this modern technology offers an impressive combination of intuitive operator controls, intelligent lifecycle management, and optimum cybersecurity – taking asphalt production at bam to a new level.
