Compacting without emissions

Battery-powered electric tandem rollers

Zero-emission energy-efficient compacting

With the new battery-powered electric driven models from the HD CompactLine series, Hamm presents tandem rollers that compact without producing any local emissions.

At Bauma 2022 in Munich, Hamm unveiled its fully electric battery-powered tandem rollers from the HD CompactLine series. Several types are available with oscillation drums, including the world's first combination e-rollers with one oscillation drum (front) and one set of wheels (rear). The HD 10e and HD 12e models – both available in all the existing sales variants of the HD CompactLine series – are not only emission-free in operation, but also ultra-quiet.

Innovative technology, dependable operation

With the new electric rollers in the compact class, Hamm's launch represents a major milestone for the compaction industry: The HD 10e model with a drum width of 1.0 m and an operating weight of 2.5 t and the HD 12e model with a drum width of 1.20 m and an operating weight of 2.7 t have the same compaction power as their combustion engine counterparts, but work without producing any emissions locally. The electric tandem rollers are operated in exactly the same way as the conventional models in the HD CompactLine series.

23 kWh battery provides enough energy for one day

One Li-ion battery with 23.4 kWh capacity provides enough energy for a typical work day and supplies power for all travel, steering, and vibration or oscillation drives via a 48 V system. Staff do not require any specialist training or qualifications to operate the low-voltage system. The battery can be charged with 400 V using the rapid-charge plug or with 230 V using the earthed adapter. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% with 400 V takes approx. four hours, while a full charge with 230 V takes roughly 7.5 hours. The battery is designed for operation at ambient temperatures of up to 45 °C. For operation below 0 °C, the battery has heating integrated. All this means the electric tandem rollers from Hamm are well equipped for a variety of operations in road building, gardening and landscaping. The new Hamm electric tandem rollers also appeal to rental service providers.

Sustainable and energy-efficient overall concept

Hamm has fine-tuned every aspect of the HD 10e and HD 12e electric rollers to preserve resources. For instance, they feature an automatic motor-off function, which deactivates all functions when the machine is stationary in order to save battery power. When ECO-Mode is selected, the control limits the working speed. This also saves energy, as does the LED lighting, which is fitted as standard. The innovative steering control also helps to save energy: In the park position, it uses no energy at all, and the steering motor does not switch on until the electric driving lever is actuated.

HAMMTRONIC on board

The HAMMTRONIC control system monitors and controls the components of the zero-emission battery-powered electric compact rollers. Combined with the electronic driving levers, this makes the HD 10e and HD 12e models extremely easy to control with precision.

Combination e-rollers with oscillation: Quiet and zero-emission compacting

Four models feature oscillation drums, two of which are combination e-rollers fitted with one oscillation drum (front) and one set of wheels (rear). This is where the already quiet oscillation meets with the quiet e-drive. The result of this is quiet compaction machines that produce no emissions and cause very few vibrations in the surrounding area. They are ideal for compacting in noise-sensitive and vibration-sensitive areas, such as near hospitals or historical buildings.

Minimal maintenance required

All electrical components in the new models are completely maintenance-free. What's more, the hydraulic oil volume is over 70% less than that of the combustion engine models. This means there are refreshingly few maintenance points on the electronic rollers compared with the diesel counterparts.
