WIRTGEN Hits Key Milestones

The fact that you can take existing technologies and perfect them with sufficient inventiveness and creativity is evidenced by the impressive development of WIRTGEN’s slipform paver division. After WIRTGEN acquired a well-known company in the industry, it gradually hit ambitious new milestones that helped the entire technology reach new heights. A highly automated process, the development of offset machines, and applications for two-layer concrete paving are just some of our many groundbreaking innovations.

In 1989, WIRTGEN took its first steps with the technology by acquiring the Belgian slipform paver manufacturer SGME and its technologies. Now the technology enjoys an outstanding reputation on the market and is the first choice for perfect concrete paving.

Following the takeover of a manufacturer, WIRTGEN begins to sell and develop slipform pavers.

1990

WIRTGEN introduces the SP 500, the first machine developed in-house.

1990

The SP 850 offers a variable working width from 2.5 m to 9.0 m.

1991

The SP 1600 is the world’s first slipform paver capable of directly paving two layers.

1994

As an all-rounder, the SP 250 is mainly used for offset applications.

1997

The TCM 850 texture curing machine is used to optimize the surface of freshly paved concrete slabs.

1999

With only two crawler units per machine, the SP 1500 L paving train is capable of two-layer paving.

2000

The SP 1500 for highways and airports can be equipped with a dowel bar and tie bar inserter as well as smoothing equipment.

2006

In addition to the SP 250, the compact SP 150 is developed for paving smaller offset profiles.

The SP 1200 features a self-loading dowel bar, tie bar, oscillating beam, and super smoother unit.

2010

The multifunctional SP 15 and SP 25 increase efficiency in inset and offset applications.

2013

AutoPilot and Field Rover make the automatic, high-precision paving of any profile shape without stringlines possible.
