Surface layer removal in southern Italy

Three sections of the historic Via Appia, known today as the SS 7 (State Highway 7), were in need of rehabilitation. On the three sections, Italian road construction contractor Impresa Turlione deployed a large milling machine W 210 XF featuring the latest Wirtgen technology, a comfortable operator’s cabin and a sweeping unit for cleaning up after milling.

Smart Compact Pro excels in warm mix asphalt

A stretch of road spanning some 3.3 kilometres in Hessen, Germany, was repaved with a new asphalt surface course. The challenge: The warm mix asphalt being used for the job meant the compaction process had to be very fast. To ensure maximum quality was achieved, the construction company deployed tandem rollers from Hamm featuring Smart Compact Pro for automated compaction based on the real-time asphalt density.

Teamwork in Germany’s Eifel Region

A 3.5-kilometre section of the A60 north of Bitburg was badly in need of rehabilitation. A perfectly coordinated team of machines from Hamm and Vögele was deployed on the project. Thanks to the Smart Compact Pro assistance system and the ergonomic ErgoPlus 5 operating concept, both paving precision and the tight completion deadline were easily fulfilled.
