Associate Shop Technician

Job Overview
The Associate Shop Technician, under the supervision of a senior technician or shop supervisor, performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, diagnostics, and equipment preparation on heavy machinery. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with digital workflow management, requiring accurate documentation and tracking through systems such as SAP, JIRA, RICO, WIDOS, and WIDAG. The technician helps ensure all equipment is inspected, tested, programmed, and prepared to meet customer and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance, including fluid checks, lubrication, battery replacement, and general equipment servicing.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Remove, repair, and replace defective or worn components to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to complete repairs accurately.
Safely operate hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and material handling devices.
Record repair details, labor hours, parts requests, inspections, and shipment activity in company software systems.
Conduct inbound and outbound equipment inspections using mobile applications.
Identify and source replacement parts using electronic parts catalogs.
Configure, program, update, and test machine systems.
Monitor and update service tickets and workflow status through digital tracking platforms.
Prepare equipment for customer delivery, including installation of required features, function testing, and final inspections.
Receive, inspect, inventory, and process incoming freight and components.
Package, secure, and load equipment for shipment while maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records.
Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and business partners.
Contribute to a positive, safe, and productive team environment.
Education and experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Less than one year of related work experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, required to frequently stand; walk; gross hand and finger dexterity; occasionally reach outward with hands and arms; rarely climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally sit, lift, and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is generally in a warehouse environment while occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
