Sustainability at KLEEMANN

Our environmental policy

Environmental protection is an important element of the integrated quality and environmental management system of Kleemann GmbH and applies to all employees in all departments with the aim of continuous improvement of the operational environmental protection and environmental performance.

This objective is achieved through the economic handling of resources, the measurable reduction in emissions, power consumption and the waste volume.

We regard the observance of the applicable environmental laws and regulations as well as other obligations as minimum requirements. In addition to this, we have pledged to protect the environment to make a contribution to climate protection and to continuously improve the operational environmental performance. Furthermore, we include our employees, suppliers, service providers and interested third parties in our quest for improved environmental protection. The environmental management system we have implemented meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001, is communicated internally and evaluated regularly in the framework of audits.

Resource saving through LED lighting

KLEEMANN has a low level of in-house vertical integration. This means that most of the power consumption takes the form of electricity for building services. The main consumer here is the lighting. Thanks to the conversion from conventional lighting technology, such as fluorescent tubes and metal vapour lamps, to LEDs, savings of up to 1,606,900 kWh a year have already been made, which corresponds to 588 tons of CO2 a year.

Use of photovoltaic systems

To ensure less dependence on a bought-in power mix, we plan to generate electricity ourselves with photovoltaic systems. According to current system planning, we will have an annual potential of 1,275,360 kWh, which corresponds to 466 tons of CO2 a year. KLEEMANN already uses 100% green electricity.

Reduction of noise load

The noise and sound protection in the industrial and commercial sector is becoming increasingly important. In mixed zones with residential, industrial and commercial buildings side by side, noise protection measures are particularly important. The erection of sound insulating walls can significantly reduce the noise load in the surrounding area. At KLEEMANN in Göppingen, test zones at the end of the cyclic assembly line were enclosed with state-of-the-art sound-insulating walls. This resulted in considerable lowering of the noise level in the rest of the assembly hall during machine test runs. A significant improvement for the work situation in the assembly hall and the immediate neighbourhood.

Powder coating without solvents

In our factory, a PiP (powder in powder) procedure is used for powder coating. This not only makes the processes leaner and reduces costs, but also has a positive effect on the environment. Two powder applications and one curing process also means: less time in the oven. This results in lower gas and oil consumption. In addition, the excess powder is collected in special filters via suction systems in the powder coating booth and can therefore be reused in an environmentally friendly manner

Nature conservation at KLEEMANN

To protect insects and the soil, we have decided to stop mowing our grassed areas mechanically and to use them as pastures for Cameroon sheep.
