VÖGELE ventilation system

Ventilation system for extracting bitumen vapors

The limits for bitumen vapors and aerosols in the processing of hot asphalt are a regular subject of discussion. JOSEPH VÖGELE AG has been offering its customers extraction and ventilation solutions for a number of years. These route hot asphalt vapors and aerosols away, significantly reducing the exposure of paver and screed operators.

Note: The ventilation systems offered by VÖGELE differ in their design depending on model series. The pictures show the system on the SUPER 1900-3(i) and SUPER 2100-3(i) pavers by way of example.

How it works

The ventilation system extracts the vapors via the intake ducts and directs them away from the crew area. The suction effect is provided by a specially designed centrifugal fan located inside the machine. The intake is located directly above the conveyor discharge point. From there, via an exhaust pipe behind the operator's platform, the extracted aerosols and vapors are mixed with fresh air across the paver's roof and discharged.

No impaired visibility: The system was developed along with the machines, and perfectly integrated into the design.

No dismantling: On Universal Class and Highway Class pavers, the exhaust pipe is folded down together with the roof for transport.

No additional noise: The fan is located inside Universal Class and Highway Class pavers.

Availability

VÖGELE currently offers ventilation systems for all paver classes. The systems can of course also be retrofitted to existing machines of the "Dash 3" generation.

Standards

All VÖGELE ventilation systems have been tested by a tracer gas test in accordance with the guidelines of the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The test method was developed by the NIOSH in 1997, and approved by the French research institute for occupational safety and health INRS (l'Institut national de recherche et de sécurité) in 2012. According to this laboratory test, at least 80% of the tracer gas is extracted through the ventilation system.
