Successful Expansion in Utah

TBK Excavation Relies on Kleemann Technology

For the further expansion of its thriving business, TKB Excavation is staking its success on the power and efficiency of Kleemann plants. In St. George, Utah, a highly efficient trio consisting of a jaw crusher, a cone crusher, and a scalping screen is getting the job done.

Founded in 2005, TKB Excavation has since successfully established itself in the booming market. TKB’s owner, Trent Bess, started out as an urban excavation contractor. Several years ago, he purchased a Kleemann MOBICAT MC 110i EVO jaw crusher for processing and recycling the excavated material. As the demand for urban excavation work declined over the years, TKB Excavation shifted its focus to rock mining for the production of aggregates for the construction industry. In September 2023, the company owner added a cone crusher to his equipment fleet after once again deciding to invest in another plant from Kleemann – a MOBICONE MCO 90i EVO2 – on the basis of his previous positive experience.

“At first we thought we could get by with a jaw crusher and cone crusher alone,” says Trent Bess. “But, in reality, it soon became clear that we needed additional screening capacity.” The company therefore decided to add a MOBISCREEN MSS 802i EVO scalping screen to its equipment fleet to complete its Kleemann trio. “Having had such a favorable experience with our first Kleemann machine, the decision in favor of Kleemann for our other new acquisitions was an easy one,” explains Trent Bess. “The machines are very efficient and particularly economical when it comes to fuel consumption. This is a genuine investment in the future of my company.”

Expansion of Production Capacities

TKB Excavation can now use the plant train to produce seven or eight different classified final products ranging from fill material to road surfacing materials and including several different final product grain sizes along the way. And all of them in outstanding quality. “With the Kleemann plants, we have significantly expanded our production options and are consistently delivering high-quality products that meet the exacting requirements of the construction industry,” emphasizes Trent Bess.

Smart Technologies for Maximum Efficiency

For him, the decisive advantages are the innovative technologies and carefully thought-out processes – for example, intelligent line coupling. This enables the optimization of the crushing process between the individual machines. As soon as the fill level in one plant reaches a certain height, production in the upstream machine is automatically adjusted. This avoids overload situations and optimizes the overall process. “The wireless line coupling is revolutionary,” says Trent Bess. “It makes our work both easier and safer. We no longer have to lay cables, and the process is fully automated.”

Operating Concept
SPECTIVE

Another example of an ingenious solution is the SPECTIVE operating concept with SPECTIVE CONNECT, which considerably improves the user-friendliness. Machine parameters can be adjusted from a safe distance and operators no longer have to climb onto the machines. “These features reduce downtime to a minimum and make our work not only more efficient, but also much safer," adds Trent Bess.

Focus on Satisfaction and Service

In addition to the technological superiority of the machines, Bess also values the outstanding service provided by Kleemann. “The support from the Kleemann team is fantastic’, he says. ‘Whether we need spare parts or assistance with the crushing process, we know we will get the help we need immediately.”

Thanks to the high-performance machines and reliable support, TKB Excavation is optimistic about the future. The company, which already has a successful track record, is ready to master the challenges ahead thanks to Kleemann technology.
