New additive mixing unit, new chip spreaders
A revised dual-circuit additive mixing unit for the combination rollers saves water and increases the range, as the sprinkling system at the front and rear are controlled separately. Water and additive can be sprayed separately or as a mixture. HAMM has improved chip spreaders for the HX series in its range for spreading surface layers: the HLS 150 (201 gal / 760 l) and HLS 170 (254 gal / 960 l) line spreaders plus the HDS (198 gal / 750 l disc spreader, spreading width 315 in / 8m). All models have the option for height adjustment. An innovative lowering device is available as an option, which makes installation and removal possible without using a forklift truck or crane. The spreaders are operated from the operator's platform and are fitted with automatically rolling tarpaulins and integrated LED lighting.
Sustainable compaction, fuel savings
The engines work at a lower speed of 1500–2000 rpm, which reduces fuel consumption as well as noise and exhaust gas emissions. Here, powerful travel pumps ensure high compaction power. Furthermore, the automatic engine stop automatically switches the engine off after an extended period of inactivity. Finally, the rollers can be operated using diesel or HVO fuel.
Modern documentation, communications and maintenance solutions
Thanks to numerous interfaces and the corresponding hardware, the rollers in the HX series are prepared for future applications and challenges – be they quality, documentation or communication challenges. HAMM has developed the "Smart Doc" app for logging and monitoring the compaction progress. This means that even inexperienced drivers can immediately see which areas have been sufficiently compacted and which areas still need compaction. HAMM will be upgrading the app during 2023 with functions that will network the rollers on the construction site (M2M = machine-to-machine) and exchange data via a cloud (M2C = machine-to-cloud). The JD Link telematics systems is also on board in all models. It can also be used to call up the roller performance data, filling levels, error messages, operating hours or service intervals at any time and from anywhere.
Nine models and split drums
The HX series rollers are available with 17,000 lbs / 7t (HX 70i) and 19,842 lbs / 9 t (HX 90i) operating weights. Among the nine total versions are models with two vibrating roller drums, one oscillation and one vibrating roller drum as well as combi-rollers. The vibration and oscillation drums are designed as split or non-split drums, depending on the model.
