Responsible right from the start
The BENNINGHOVEN main factory and the contributions it makes to energy-efficient, resource-friendly production.
At the state-of-the-art production facility in Wittlich, BENNINGHOVEN manufactures long-lasting asphalt mixing plants and systems for maximizing the volume of asphalt fed back into recycling process. Even the production of the plant components themselves utilizes techniques to reduce the consumption of energy and resources.
Our mission:
how can we help our customers to reduce carbon emissions in road construction?
Located between the Mosel and Eifel in western Germany, BENNINGHOVEN’s factory in Wittlich is one of the most modern factories in the WIRTGEN GROUP and the world’s most advanced production facility for asphalt mixing plants. This location is characterized not only by its modern and advanced production methods but also by the efficient handling of the renewable energy deployed by the site. Every effort is made to protect the soil, water, and air from contamination.
This starts with insulating the building to the very latest technical standards. Ventilation systems for cooling and heating with integrated heat recovery guarantee high indoor air quality, and deactivate automatically as soon as windows are opened. No less than 50.9% of the power required is sourced from renewables. The interior lighting is also designed as a smart system: Motion sensors ensure that there is light where needed. If someone enters a room, energy-saving LED systems regulate the level of illumination depending on available daylight, while automated blinds activate in response to strong sunlight to avoid wasting energy on cooling down the building again.
At BENNINGHOVEN, advanced systems and innovative ideas combine to ensure that stringent legal requirements are fulfilled or even exceeded.
“Zero-liter” production saves water
Drinking water is a precious resource and its responsible handling will continue to grow in importance. BENNINGHOVEN’s production process needs no processed water and therefore produces no industrial effluent. But we do still make use of water at BENNINGHOVEN – for our employees. Hot water is heated locally.
Using technology to work towards a more efficient use of energy and raw materials is the challenge of today and tomorrow. Solutions from Benninghoven can help to cut energy consumption and emissions, and enable the operation of asphalt mixing plants with high rates of RAP usage – which also ensures the long-term future of the mixing plant site.
