Vocational training as a Metal Technology Specialist / Assembly Technology (m/f/d) at WIRTGEN

Metal technology specialists are responsible for ensuring that sufficient supplies of components are available at the production machines in order to guarantee maximum machine utilization. They also play a role in the assembly of final products. Above all, they must possess practical abilities: The must be skillful and dependable, and must always carry out the tasks assigned to them with absolute precision. You will learn how to work from technical drawings, how to handle manual and CNC controlled machines, and the use of high-end laser cutters and other advanced cutting technologies. In final assembly, you will work in a team on the construction of complex construction equipment from prefabricated parts, check the finished products, and confirm their operational readiness.

Training program

Your trainers will prepare you for your future career in the course of a two-year training program combining attendance of a vocational training college (the David-Röntgen-Schule in Neuwied) and in-house training in Windhagen. In the course of our in-house training schedule, you will acquire new skills and knowledge in around six of our company’s departments. Here are several examples of the comprehensive knowledge you will acquire in the various departments of our company:

  • Training workshop: planning and processing of components with manually operated and CNC-controlled machines.
  • Final assembly: As a member of a team, you will assemble the prefabricated parts to produce complex construction equipment, check the finished products, and test them in operation.
  • Small parts: You will learn how to work from technical drawings and carry out the first small projects on your own.
  • Cutting with lasers and cutting torches: You will learn how to work with advanced warehousing systems, laser and cutting technologies. At the same time, you will gain insights into the numerous aspects of job and project planning

In addition, we offer you in-house courses parallel to the learning content offered by the vocational training college to prepare you for examinations and your later working life.
