Vocational training at HAMM AG

HAMM AG offers vocational training in a range of recognized training occupations.
The foundation stone of a successful career

HAMM AG is known far and wide for its exemplary training concept, which has been a high priority in the company for decades. The result: time and time again, trainees from HAMM are among the best-in-class in training courses. What also speaks for the quality of training is that most of the successfully qualified trainees continue their career at HAMM and are now part of the company’s most valuable asset – its employees. HAMM’s philosophy of training and qualifying tomorrow’s employees within the company is a rewarding investment for both sides.

Training opportunities 2024

Our search for trainees for the following recognized training occupations for the training year 2024 has begun:

From apprentice to a highly-skilled specialist

One thing becomes clear almost immediately when you take a walk around the facilities at HAMM AG: numerous young people are fully integrated into the company’s activities and processes. Several of them qualified for their jobs through training at HAMM, and have since become valuable members of the workforce. Their daily work in their respective occupations is still strongly influenced by their experiences in training. Theresa Troppmann, Andreas Stark and Anja Sporrer. three trainees who qualified through training programs at HAMM AG, tell us about the time during and after their training at the roller manufacturer from Tirschenreuth.

I successfully completed my training and qualified as an industrial mechanic in January 2016. I always wanted to work in a technical job, and my new colleagues made me feel right at home from the first day on. During my training, there were loads of different assignments, and the other trainees always stuck together and helped one another. In the meantime, I’m working in production, building CompactLine compactors. The working conditions here are great, everything’s spotlessly clean and it’s nowhere near as loud as you would think. I’m also very happy with the working hours. Something else I really like is that we are seeing more and more women in training at HAMM.

Theresa Troppmann, Industrial Mechanic

I completed my training as a mechatronics technician in February 2020. What I particularly liked about it was the number of areas I was able to learn in and gather a very good overview of the various departments and the company as a whole. We were also ideally prepared for all upcoming examinations. Everyone who qualified in the same year as me was offered a permanent job in the company. And after my training, I can honestly say that the working atmosphere and the colleagues I work with are fantastic, and the work is always interesting and extremely varied. Whichever way you look at it, training at HAMM was the right decision in every way.

Andreas Stark, mechatronics technician

What I liked best about my training was that we were involved in the development of real products, and not just any old construction project. In fact, even the final project for the exams in 2018 had something to do with later serial production machines. Being treated as a true member of the project team during training is a great way to get the hang of the job. Another thing I remember well is working together with all the other trainees on team projects like the guided tours of the factory during the Technology days in 2014.

From the perspective of the career coaches...

“As a former trainee, and now as a career coach, I must emphasize that all trainees at HAMM receive highly personalized training for the future career they have chosen. And this is clearly confirmed by every year’s results. We have always attached enormous importance to ensuring that our trainees never play the role of temporary staff, but are directly involved in activities relevant to the ongoing development of our machines and production processes and make a real contribution to them. At HAMM, we see our target-oriented and practical vocational training as one of the most important cornerstones for all future advanced training options. We can offer successfully qualified and ambitious former trainees very good career opportunities – even without higher education or a university degree.” (Gerd Köstler, Mechanical Engineering Technician and Career Coach)

“For us, it is particularly important that we directly involve our trainees in product-relevant activities and projects. After initial familiarization and instruction, they work on the same jobs as our qualified specialists. It is also interesting to note that we have taken on all successfully qualified trainees from the past 20 years of vocational training at HAMM. We are also very well networked with all WIRTGEN GROUP trainers throughout Germany. Thanks to this, our trainees enjoy the benefits of working on joint projects and shared learning content that reflect the latest innovations and technical developments. Networking within the WIRTGEN GROUP also creates unique opportunities for trainees, e.g. the annual Paving Days.” (Stefan Engl, Industrial Supervisor / Metal Fabrication, trainer)
