Application Specialist - VÖGELE Products


Job Overview:

The primary purpose of the Application Specialist’s role is to provide support to the wide field of applications and cutting-edge technologies used in all paver product lines by performing and accomplishing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure that machines and components adhere to the company quality program by performing reviews, inspections and audits and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support dealerships and customers to ensure the desired results are achieved.
  • Monitor, develop and share new techniques to reduce losses and improve quality.
  • Recommend changes to product which would improve cost, delivery, and quality for the customer.
  • Produce competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors.
  • Work closely with Area Sales Managers to assist in finding technical solutions for customer-specific needs, including professional demonstrations, job site solutions, and competitive comparisons.
  • Work closely with service department concerning technical service issues.
  • Work closely with Sales VP on sales issues.
  • Improve sales customer data base to better understand and analyze the North American markets.
  • Travel to customer and dealer locations (average about 50%-70% travel); must be able to travel internationally to Canada for customer support and to Germany for educational courses at the Wirtgen factories.
  • Install new or modified equipment and software at customers’ facilities to ensure full functionality.
  • Perform software updates and field campaigns on machines at dealer location when needed.
  • Provide a communication link between the dealer and company to ensure effective service and support is provided.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance.
  • Analyze, review and inspect findings to determine source of problems, and recommend changes, repairs or other corrective action.


Education / Experience & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 4-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience using formal and semi-formal teaching methods to effectively deliver new and technical information to varying size classes required. Must have experience with telematic systems; WITOS and WIDIAG preferred. Required skills include:
  • Strong interpersonal, technical and customer service skills.
  • Ability to logically identify and efficiently resolve issues.
  • Ability to maintain strong team relationships and build morale.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
