VÖGELE presents two new Universal Class pavers

Both models are equipped with a powerful, low-emission engine and are suitable for both urban projects and for the construction of major roads. The SUPER 1680 Li facilitates pave widths between 2.55 m and 7.8 m, the SUPER 1680-3 Li up to 8 m. Both pavers offer users particularly straightforward operation, each with a different range of functions.

As the world market leader for road pavers, JOSEPH VÖGELE AG supplies the right machine for every market, every requirement and every construction project. The company, headquartered in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in Germany, is launching two new pavers on the Chinese market which have been modelled on the tried and tested SUPER 1880 L and SUPER 1880-3 L pavers: the Classic Line SUPER 1680 Li paver with the ErgoBasic operating concept and the Premium Line SUPER 1680-3 Li paver with the expanded ErgoPlus 3 operating concept plus extra convenience functions. As Universal Class machines, both models have a broad range of applications: the SUPER 1680 Li combines with the AB 480 Extending Screed and facilitates pave widths between 2.55 m and 7.8 m. In combination with the AB 500 or the AB 600, the SUPER 1680-3 Li achieves pave widths of up to 8 m. Both pavers have a laydown rate of up to 800 t/h and with their rugged material handling components, can pave both asphalt mixes and abrasive materials such as cement-treated base (CTB) efficiently and in high quality.

JOSEPH VÖGELE AG is launching two new Universal Class pavers: the SUPER 1680 Li and the SUPER 1680-3 Li are equipped with a powerful, low-emission engine and are equally suitable for urban projects and for the construction of major roads.

Especially low emissions

Both pavers are equipped with a powerful 4.5-litre engine. The powerful 4-cylinder diesel engine delivers a torque of 670 Nm at 1400 to 1700 rpm and an output of up to 123 kW. It also has particularly low emissions and fuel consumption: the effective exhaust emissions after-treatment with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), together with intelligent electronic engine control, significantly reduce harmful substances. The two VÖGELE Universal Class pavers thus already satisfy MEE IV emissions standards and have the “i” suffix in their machine name: this suffix stands for “intelligent emission control” and indicates environmentally-friendly engines in which the latest technology guarantees especially low emissions. Like all VÖGELE Dash 3 pavers, the SUPER 1680-3 Li is furthermore equipped with the VÖGELE EcoPlus low-emissions package which additionally reduces emissions and cuts fuel consumption by as much as 25%.

Tailor-made for the Chinese market

Both pavers are tailored precisely to suit the requirements of Chinese road construction: the material hopper with a capacity of 15 t, for example, is designed to facilitate the supply of mix by all types of truck common in China. Wide, oscillating push-rollers can moreover be displaced forwards by 75 or 150 mm for smooth feeding, even on bends. As for the development of the SUPER 1880(-3) L, the parent company in Germany and the site in Langfang collaborated closely to develop two machines tailor-made for the Chinese market.

Optimum precompaction

The tractor machines are produced in China, the matching screeds in the German parent plant: the SUPER 1680 Li works in combination with the AB 480 TV Extending Screed including tamper and vibrators as compacting systems, whilst the SUPER 1680-3 Li works with the AB 500 TV and the AB 600 TV. All three screeds facilitate a high degree of precompaction and layer thicknesses of up to 30 cm. Moreover, all the key components in contact with the mix are electrically heated, preventing the adhesion of mix and ensuring an even surface structure. VÖGELE was one of the first manufacturers to develop electric screed heating decades ago and has continually optimised it since.

Easy operation

Like all machines from this road paver manufacturer, the new models, too, are especially easy and intuitive to operate. All VÖGELE pavers and material feeders are based on the same operating logic, making it easy to switch both machine and operator. The SUPER 1680 Li provides users with the clear ErgoBasic operating concept, including all the key functions necessary for high-quality paving. The SUPER 1680-3 Li is equipped with the expanded ErgoPlus 3 operating concept which provides operators with additional functions and an especially convenient operator’s platform - as well as safe working with perfect all-round visibility.
