Kleemann machines inspire people in Walworth/New York

Remarkable plant performance, flexibility and user-friendliness

In a quarry near Walworth in New York State, the American corporation Cold Spring crushes dolomite limestone and places all its trust in jaw crushers, cone crushers and screening plants from Kleemann. The produced material serves to cover the high demand for road construction materials in the area of Rochester by crushing into two grain sizes for further use.

For a long time now, Kleemann has been no stranger to Cold Spring Construction. It all started three years ago with the purchase of a MR 130 Zi EVO2. Even then it was clear that the demand for basic materials for asphalt production would rise and there was a need to act with foresight. "We started with a MR 130 Zi EVO2 impact crusher and were thrilled immediately", Chris McMahon, Site Manager at Cold Spring Construction, describes his first impressions. Today the company has a total of 12 Kleemann machines from a very wide variety of series, including impact crushers, cone crushers and screening plants.

The quarry at Walworth deploys one jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2, one screening plant MOBISCREEN MS 15 Z, one cone crusher MOBICONE MCO 90i EVO2 and one screening plant MOBISCREEN MS 953i EVO.

Machines tuned perfectly to one another, optimum work sequence

The limestone to be crushed has a feed size of 0-600 mm. With its high production output, the jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2 is the perfect choice for pre-crushing. Following this, the material is screened in the screen for coarse elements MOBISCREEN MS 15 Z. The oversize grain is processed with the cone crusher MOBICONE MCO 90i EVO2 in a closed circuit. For screening to the desired final grain size, a mobile screening plant is used once again: the MOBISCREEN MS 953i EVO impresses with its flexibility and accuracy. The plant train produces five final products, whereby the train – consisting of jaw crusher, cone crusher and two screening plants – consumes a total of just under 100 litres diesel an hour.

The crushing plants have an intuitive operating concept SPECTIVE. The machines are also safely interlinked by means of line coupling and the processes are tuned ideally to one another. "The Kleemann machines make everything easier", reports a thrilled Alexis Wieldy, machine operator at Cold Spring Construction. "The day runs smoothly without any problems."

Wirtgen Service inspires

The team from Cold Spring Construction appreciates, in particular, the excellent support from Kleemann and the Wirtgen Group. Directly after the purchase of the machines, the employees were made fully familiar with the method of operation and received in-depth training. Eric Harvey, Product Specialist for Wirtgen Group machine at Monroe Tractor stresses: "After the purchase, the team from Cold Spring Construction received excellent support from Wirtgen Group employees from Nashville and the whole world and were given instruction on the plants."

SPECTIVE CONNECT simplifies the work process

The app that monitors everything and supports the machine operator

The crushing plants used by Cold Spring in Walworth are state of the art: Both the jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2 as well as the cone crusher MOBICONE MCO 90i EVO2 use the intuitive operating concept SPECTIVE and its supplement SPECTIVE CONNECT. SPECTIVE CONNECT brings all relevant process information of the crusher by means of an app directly to the smartphone of the operator – this facilitates work considerably and makes simple and safe control of the crushing plants possible.

For Chris McMahon, Site Manager at Cold Spring Construction, the extension is a genuine benefit: "SPECTIVE CONNECT helps the machine operators to find out more about the method of operation of the machine – and while they are still in the cabin."

Fault messages can be monitored easily via the app – to a large extent, this makes leaving the cabin and clambering over rubble unnecessary. Furthermore, detailed displays, such as fuel consumption, crusher filling level or crusher gap setting, help to keep an eye on the cost-benefit ratio and to continuously optimize the machine.

Good perspectives

Seamus Loftus, Kleemann Technical Sales Manager of Wirtgen America, even thinks one step further: "With SPECTIVE and SPECTIVE CONNECT the next generation of machine operators will be able to operate the machines conveniently and receive instruction without great effort. They thus set up the business of the future."
