Recycling Boom in Denmark

Plant sets from Kleemann increase the productivity in recycling operations

In the last few years the Danish recycling market has experience a veritable boom. MIS Recycling A/S has benefited from this with its services: the company has already been active for 20 years in the recycling of residual construction materials.

In order to meet the high demand, in the meantime MIS uses 10 impact crushing plants from the ultramodern MOBIREX series from Kleemann, which achieve a high productivity level.

With its services, MIS leads the way in this sector in Denmark. The recycling company processes approx. three million tons of residual construction materials and 100,000 tons of natural stone every year. One of the most common applications is asphalt processing. The impact crushing plants are used to crush reclaimed asphalt to grain sizes of 0–6 mm and 0–20 mm. The final product is used again in asphalt production. Depending on requirements, brick, concrete or railway ballast can also be processed. The contractor brings the crushing and screening plants directly to the desired location where, depending on the scope of the project, they remain for one to two weeks. A long service life and high output of the machines used is important, which is why MIS has been using screening and crushing plants from Kleemann for many years.

"The use of our first mobile crushing plant Mobirex 130 in 2002 already convinced us of the high quality and robustness of the plants", says Martin Henriksen, Director of MIS Recycling A/S. In 2009, the latest MR EVO models were then acquired. In the meantime, MIS uses 10 MOBIREX MR EVO2s as well as three screening plants of types MS 12 Z, MS 15 Z and MS 16 D. "The Kleemann plants are simply more durable, more resilient and have a higher quality than other crushing plants with which we have worked", explains Henrik Hvid, Production Manager at MIS. "Service for the plants is also important to use. We can rely fully on the WIRTGEN GROUP team in Denmark."

The MOBIREX MR 130 Zi EVO2 provides the best results together with a screening plant.

The consistent use of the MOBIREX EVO2 impact crushing plants creates synergies: the operators from MIS are very familiar with the plants and do not have to adjust to a different technology depending on the project. Furthermore, stock-keeping of the spare parts is simplified. The two latest MR 130 Zi EVO2s are also equipped with the new control concept SPECTIVE, which is particularly intuitive and can even automate a few machine functions. "Operation of the plants is a lot easier and does not need explaining", says Martin Henriksen, "our machine operators can control all machine functions and components easily from the ground." Flexibility of the plants is also important in the contracting business. It only takes 30 minutes to make the MOBIREX EVO2 plants with their hydraulically foldable hopper walls and side discharge conveyors ready for operation.

MIS not only works with the latest technology but also places a high value on efficient processes. The company has developed its own app, for example, to facilitate recording of the country-wide work operations. "It is important to us always to be one step ahead – whether with regard to the crushing plants or our project management", says Henrik Hvid. "The advantage of our long-standing partnership with Kleemann is that we can propose ideas for options that could make our work even more efficient."

We anticipate in the next few years that regulations for the use of screening and crushing plants in the inner cities of Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense will become stricter. To be prepared for this, it was important to MIS that the two latest MR 130 Zi EVO2s comply with exhaust stage Tier IV final. The Scania engine of the plant is equipped with a diesel particulate filter and a urea tank to reduce the emission of nitric oxides, carbon monoxides and fine dust. The company is thus also equipped for the future of the Danish recycling market.
