Bauma 2022 innovations: New machines and solutions

The Wirtgen Group's compaction specialist is bringing a whole range of new machines, options and technologies to bauma 2022. With the HC series and the HC CompactLine series, Hamm is presenting new compactors and, with the HX series, Hamm is presenting new pivot-steered tandem rollers. Thanks to interfaces, the new rollers are "digital-ready", in other words, they are prepared for the challenges of the construction site of the future.

Hamm is also making progress when it comes to sustainability – for example, with the Power Hybrid HD+ 90i PH tandem roller, which saves up to 15% fuel with the same compaction power. With the HD 10e–HD 12e model range, Hamm is, for the first time, presenting eight tandem rollers, which compact fully electrically and therefore in a way that is free of local emissions.

Smart Compact contributes to process optimisation. The new digital compaction assistant decides automatically whether to compact with vibration and big or small amplitude, with oscillation, or statically. To this end, it evaluates physical properties of the asphalt, such as the temperature or rigidity. New features include the integration of local weather data via an integrated weather station and the assessment of the complex cooling behaviour in the area of tension between the asphalt and air temperature, as well as the wind. Based on all of this information, the system determines the right setting separately for both drums.
