We are seeking a
Payroll Manager
Under direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Manager will plan, organize, and manage the preparation, analysis, maintenance, and processing of the company’s payroll function and other completing other related payroll tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll.
Records new or changed pay rates in payroll register or computer files.
Computes rates of pay according to company policy.
Compiles and prepares other payroll data such as 401k, insurance, and other benefit payments.
Calculates sales commissions.
Reviews and approves payroll deductions.
Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
Review, audit, and approve payroll reports and reconciliations.
Manage employee tax forms, garnishments and benefit deductions.
Reviews payroll to ensure accuracy.
Reviews work schedules and time records to ensure FLSA compliance.
Provides guidance and direction to employees and managers.
Effectively respond to employee questions relating to areas involving payroll.
Collaborate with HR team to ensure positive employee activities, such as onboarding, annual review process, benefits enrollment, promotions, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in accounting, business administration, or a related field
Five years of payroll experience with multi-state, public company environment and sales environment
Professional payroll certification preferred (CPP, FPC, CPS)
Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities
Record of success in individual contributor position
Strong comprehensive understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements Company Use
Proven attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to effectively work within established processes while being able to identify gaps and recommend changes when needed
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
Established proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality across various topics
Knowledge of general accounting and financial reporting principles
Working Conditions:
The Payroll Manager will primarily work in an office setting, but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet payroll deadlines.
