WARNING - SAFETY ON THE JOB

WIRTGEN is concerned with the safe use of its products. See product brochures for more detailed safety information. Follow approved safety procedures. Wear all approved personal protective equipment. To avoid personal injury or damage to tools, tines, and blades, please follow these guidelines:

  • Wear approved personal protective equipment, including eye protection.
  • Make sure tools, tines, and blades are properly seated and securely retained.
  • Do not strike tools with metal objects. Hard tips could be damaged or shatter. Use recommended hand tools for installation and removal.
  • Exercise care in removing tools. They may be hot and flange on the long retainer may be sharp.
  • Inspect tools before each application. If they are dull, cracked, or burred, do not use them.
  • To avoid injury or death, stay clear of machines when cutting elements are exposed during operation.
  • Grinding produces potentially hazardous dust/mist that can irritate skin, eyes, nose and throat, and can cause temporary or permanent respiratory disease. Refer to machine manual and maintain dust exposure levels below local limits.

DAMAGES AND WEAR BEHAVIOUR

Cutting hard materials or striking hard objects or stones in base layers will increase tip fracture rate. Deeper cutting depth will increase abrasive wear rate on carbide support and steel body.

HAULING MACHINES RESP. MILLING DRUMS

Ensure tools do not contact hard surfaces during transport of cutter drums or machines with tools installed. Improper transport can damage tools.

PCD CUTTING TOOLS

Cutting hard materials or striking hard objects or stones in base layers will increase tip fracture rate. Deeper cutting depth will increase abrasive wear rate on carbide support and steel body.
