New release WIDOS

New installation necessary for offline version

There is a new release of WIDOS based on a completely new core.

The new release doesn't provide any new functionality (for now) but fixes some minor bugs and uses a new architec-ture that enables us to implement future changes more easily in online and offline versions.

The online version with the new core was rolled out months ago, now it is the turn of the offline version. With this letter we inform you about what you have to consider.

Recommendation: Switch to the online version

All users who already work with the online version do not need to do anything. To all others who do not use the WIDOS mobile, we also recommend switching to the online version, which has many advantages:

• No installation on the hard disk required → less storage space needed!

• Always up-to-date data → no more manual updates needed!

• Individual notes can still be used → For the procedure of transferring notes see below.

If you want to change to the online version, please request your access data via WIDOS support . Starting WIDOS online is then simply done via the WIRTGEN GROUP portal.

Note: The license client is also required for the online version, but the existing license can be used without any problems and does not need to be updated.

Installation

Those who cannot do without an offline installed version must update to the new release. The old version will no longer be supported and will no longer receive data updates.

Download or USB stick

The new update is primarily available as a download. The file is very large and comprises about 120 GB, so the download will take a correspondingly long time. Make sure that there is enough space available on the hard disk. If the download is interrupted, it can be continued with all common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) via the integrated download manager.

If a download is not possible due to a bad network connection, we also provide an installa-tion on a USB stick. Order this at widos-support@wirtgen.de or in the Parts Shop under material number # 2376735. We charge a nominal fee of €40 for the data carrier.

Download WIDOS Offline

Taking over notes

The notes you have created yourself can easily be transferred to both the online and the new offline version. To do this, select Notes ► Export in the menu and save the file to a freely selectable location. The import into the new version is then done accordingly via Notes ► Import.

The installation is done in four steps:

1. Save notes!

In the menu: Notes ► Export
(Administrator rights are required for the following steps.)

2. Uninstall old version with the help of the Windows standard functionality.

3. Reinstall the new release:

- Unzip file
- Start setup.exe

4. To be able to obtain further updates in the future, the update manager must be reset.

Click in the menu on Options ► Update and then in the windows Configuration download► Reset

A new licensing is not required, the license client will be recognized and used by the new version.

FAQ

What happens to my many notes that I have created?
The notes can be transferred without any problems, the procedure is described above.

I use the online version of WIDOS, what do I have to do?
The answer is simple: Nothing. The online version has already been changed over and when dialing in via the WIRTGEN GROUP portal, the new release has already been in use for some time.

How can I change to the online version?
Send a message to the WIDOS Support ( widos-support@wirtgen.de ), then the access via the WIRTGEN GROUP Portal will be activated for you and you will receive the corresponding access data.

The file is too big for a download, how can I still get the new release?
You can order a USB stick via the WIDOS support, but this costs 40 € nominal fee.

Can I continue to use the old version?
The old version is no longer supported, there are also no more data updates. It can be used for 12 months after the last update, after that it cannot be started anymore.
