New tandem rollers and single-drum compactors for India feature premium-class compaction technology
Modern, high-performing and practice-driven: these are the hallmarks of Hamm’s presentation at bC India 2013. In Mumbai, the German premium manufacturer will exhibit a cross-section of machines from its extensive product range including two single-drum compactors, several tandem rollers in different weight classes and one pneumatic-tyred roller. Items of special interest will be the new machines designed specifically for the Indian market which are manufactured at the plant in Pune.
Hamm AG is one of only a few international manufacturers developing different types of compaction equipment exclusively for the Indian market and producing the machines locally in India. Two new articulated tandem rollers are the latest products developed by the team from Germany and India: the HD 99 and HD 109. Series production of the brand-new models will begin in Pune in the spring of 2013.
Tandem rollers and single-drum compactors: German technology made in India
Hamm’s engineers from Pune and Tirschenreuth have provided their new developments with numerous strong features that are typical of Hamm, such as ease of operation and ergonomic design. But there is even more: the rollers, which are produced to the highest quality standards at the plant of Wirtgen India in Pune, meet all requirements specific to the Indian construction industry – from lighting via cooling system all the way to engine technology.
Highlight 2013: the new HD 99 and HD 109 tandem rollers
With the HD 99 and HD 109 tandem rollers, which have been newly designed from the ground up, Hamm broadens its offer of premium-quality construction machinery “made in India”. The articulated double vibratory rollers with operating weights of 9 tonnes (HD 99) and 10 tonnes (HD 109) respectively have been perfectly tailored in every detail to meet the requirements of the Indian market. They are powerful all-rounders for asphalt compaction in urban road, parking lot, motorway or airport construction. Being the first machines in a new generation of products for the Indian market, they will be available from the spring of 2013.
In terms of the compaction system to be installed in the new models, Hamm relies on the tried-and-tested technology used in the internationally proven HD series. The HD 99 and HD 109 feature a drum width of 1.68 m. Depending on the vibration frequency selected, the drums develop a centrifugal force of 75 kN or 60 kN respectively. New features include a redesign of the machines, folding GRP canopy and efficient Cummins engine technology complying with Tier 3 emission standards. And last but not least, Hamm has provided the new model range with a simple, self-explanatory and language-neutral operating concept. Numerous attractive options are available for the generously equipped basic machines, allowing each customer to tailor his machine to precisely fit his specific requirements.
Innovation: Hamm 311P single-drum compactor with padfoot drum
At bC India, Hamm will exhibit a 311P single-drum compactor with padfoot drum for the first time in addition to the familiar 311 model. This machine is eminently suitable for the compaction of cohesive and wet soils containing high percentages of, for example, loam or clay. The benefits of single-drum compactors with padfoot drum: trapezoidal studs on the surface of the drum enable them to thoroughly knead and roughen the soil during compaction. In addition, the cross-section of the padfoots increases the overall surface allowing the soil to dry more quickly.
Just like the machine with smooth drum, the 311P is driven by a 90-horsepower, water-cooled 4-cylinder diesel engine from Cummins. It impresses with low noise emission levels and low fuel consumption. The machine’s three-point articulated joint ensures outstanding driving and steering properties in addition to providing excellent directional stability and driving convenience during compacting and manoeuvring. Driver comfort is enhanced by the machine’s self-explanatory operating concept. In addition, full all-round visibility and a free view of the drum increase safety on the construction site while ensuring high quality of compaction. Customers praise not only the 311’s ease of operation with clearly labelled control panels but also its high compaction performance and outstanding reliability even in extreme outside temperatures.
Tandem and pneumatic-tyred rollers for asphalt compaction
With the HD 12 VV and HD 14 VV tandem roller models, Hamm will be presenting two highly successful machines from the HD CompactLine in Mumbai offering self-weights of 2.5 tonnes and 4.2 tonnes respectively. The compact and manoeuvrable machines are part of a series of tandem rollers and combination rollers starting from a weight of 1.5 tonnes and offering numerous options that range from canopy to grit spreader and drum lighting.
Hamm will also show the GRW 15 pneumatic-tyred roller, a tried-and-tested model used for asphalt compaction and soil stabilization.
