Arrived on the market

The new generation of pneumatic-tire rollers from Hamm offers many options

HP series/tailored for all markets and applications

It has been used across the world, and been showing what it can do, since 2020: The latest generation of pneumatic-tire rollers from Hamm, the HP series, is not only particularly productive but, thanks to its uniform platform and the wide range of potential options, it is suitable for practically every use and for every market.

Since as early as the 1960s, pneumatic-tire rollers have been an integral part of the product range. With the new HP series, another chapter of this success story is being opened. The new HP series model stands out well thanks to the large, newly designed water tank. Like the diesel tank, it is generously dimensioned so that the machines have sufficient capacity for a full working day without stopping to refill. For this reason alone, the rollers are already extremely productive.

Cast from the same mold and impressive thanks to the wide range of options

The various models in the HP series are all based on the same platform. Hamm will also continue to offer the pneumatic-tire rollers in various basic versions. This includes models of the following type HP 180 or HP 180i with at least 8 t and maximum 18 t working weight and model HP 280 or HP 280i with working weights between 10 t and maximum 28 t Hamm is providing the individual markets with the particular models to suit the locally demanded weight classes and equipment variants – taking the locally applicable emission regulations into account at all times. Models HP 180i and HP 280i meet the requirements of the exhaust emission standards EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage V, while models HP 180 and HP 280 are intended for Tier 3 markets. Thanks to the wide range of options, the pneumatic-tire rollers can be tailored for all markets and applications.

First-class visibility, intuitive operating concept

Optimal visibility and simple, intuitive operation are particularly important to the machine operator and help them to do a good job. The panoramic cab in the HP series, with its ergonomically optimized driver's platform, offers maximum overview of the machine and construction site. The driver can individually adjust the seat and armrests and the tilt of the dashboard with steering wheel to their personal preferences. In addition, the seat operating unit can be moved to the outer edge of the platform and optionally rotated by 90° in either direction. In combination with the shape of the asymmetric frame – which is also a tried-and-tested Hamm machine design – this results in outstanding visibility, even on the models with a roll over protection system (ROPS).

"The driver was able to operate the machine immediately without needing much instruction. Colleagues from the workshop reported back to me that the fuel consumption is extraordinarily low."

Powerful and sensitive

Thanks to the connection between the powerful, hydrostatic rear-axle drive and a sensitive control system, the HP series can be set to the right working speed in any working situation. This can be conveniently adjusted using the rotary knob here – an important prerequisite for homogeneous compaction. Furthermore, the intelligent drive control allows for smooth, steady acceleration and braking – this too is an unbeatable advantage when it comes to preventing unevenness in the compaction.

Practical and effective – new diesel-powered tire heating

All models in the HP series can be equipped with thermal aprons – which has always been the classic choice for pneumatic-tire rollers from Hamm. The diesel-powered tire heating is a new feature – available as an option for the HP 180i and HP 280i models. This offers decisive advantages for working on the construction site.

Generously dimensioned water tank

One distinctive feature of the new pneumatic-tire rollers is the large water tank, which has a volume of 650 l. Sufficient capacity for a working day without having to waste any time stopping to fill up the tank. This makes the machines in the HP series extremely productive – this image shows an HP 280i being used near Voggenthal.

Innovative additive-sprinkling system

When paving asphalt that is rather difficult to process, the sprinkling of the pneumatic tires is essential in order to achieve high-quality compaction. By completely redesigning the additive-sprinkling system, Hamm has created optimal conditions for easy handling and the highest level of compaction quality.

Five key advantages:

  • Time-saving filling of the additive concentrate without premixing
  • Dosing from the driver's platform in various addition levels – the water and additive is mixed automatically
  • Always the optimal mixing ratio and demixing is prevented
  • Fill level monitoring via the display on the control panel
  • It is also possible to convert the sprinkling from water to additive at any time from the driver's platform.
