Make life on your construction site even easier with JDLink

As of now, Wirtgen Group machines can also be integrated into the John Deere telematics system from JDLink. On request, your local Wirtgen Group sales and service organisation can check the system change. Just like the telematics solution from the Wirtgen Group, its counterpart from John Deere offers a comprehensive portfolio of services. JDLink also accesses machine data and, in turn, the information these provide about the operational status. Positioning data can be retrieved and monitored. The comprehensive monitoring function makes the optimal deployment of machines easier and minimises idle times. Because JDLink also sends warnings and error messages from the machine and reminders when maintenance and service is due. This helps with the planning of maintenance and service schedules and also in the event of essential remote diagnostics by service technicians. JDLink can be used as an app on mobile devices or with web access.

Process management and higher quality – thanks to a connected construction site

The Wirtgen Group has developed intelligent software solutions and integrated them into the WITOS infrastructure in the form of modules to optimise the process of connecting value chains in planning, execution and operations.

Project profitability can be increased with the aid of digital processes and tools.

For example, the full version of WITOS Paving Plus from Vögele is the software-based process management solution for asphalt paving. It consists of a total of five modules and connects all parties involved in the project, from the asphalt mixing plant to the paver operator. As a result, site planning (Control), mix supply (Materials), mix transport (Transport), asphalt paving (JobSite) and subsequent process analysis (Analysis) can all be managed in real time in a single system. The site manager and paving team can respond quickly and systematically to potential disruptions and make paving processes much more efficient.

Asphalt paving: WITOS Paving Docu

WITOS Paving Docu offers construction contractors a smart solution for the digital documentation and analysis of asphalt paving projects.

With this system, the road paver acts as a server and enables data to be shared between the machine and a smartphone app via WLAN. Using the app, site managers and paver operators can start paving projects with WITOS Paving Docu on the machine terminal and log a wealth of machine and paving data such as the working width, paving speed, stops and the effective paving time. In addition, the system can be used to log delivery documents by QR code scanning (or enter them manually) as well as continuously calculate paving areas, quantities, and surface densities. Construction site reports are automatically mailed to selected recipients on completion of the project.

Compaction: Smart Compaction

With the Smart Compaction product family, Hamm has developed a whole range of solutions for smart and simple compaction.

The solutions provided by Smart Compaction focus on digital interfacing of the operator and the machine: Smart Doc is a tool for comprehensive measurement and documentation of compaction in asphalt paving and earthworks. Smart Compact is a digital compaction assistant that actively assists the roller driver with the determination and automatic regulation of the required compaction force in both drums.

Cold milling: Wirtgen Performance Tracker (WPT)

The Wirtgen Group also uses the WITOS telematics solution’s infrastructure in the field of road rehabilitation.

With the Wirtgen Performance Tracker (WPT), Wirtgen has developed a solution that, for the first time, makes it possible to accurately and reliably document the actual milling work performed. In the course of this, WPT first uses a laser scanner to measure the cross-sectional profile of the area to be milled. Milling area performance and milling volume are then precisely calculated using GPS positioning and other sensors. The machine operator is continuously provided with the most important data in real time on the control screen. After completion of the milling job, a report with all relevant performance and consumption data is automatically generated and mailed to the machine owner.

Without WPT, a surveyor would usually have to be called in at the end of work to determine the actual milling performance. The result: additional costs and delays in completing the project. With WPT, the specialist for cold milling machines demonstrates how the automated flow of information between the machine, the operator, the service workshop, and the project planning office makes processes less complex, faster, and more cost-effective.
