Control paving processes automatically

Next automation level: With Smart Pave from VÖGELE, operators can control the pave width, position and direction of their Dash 5 paver fully automatically. This makes asphalt paving even more efficient.

Today’s road construction faces a number of challenges, ranging from economic considerations and staff shortages to stricter safety regulations. To make paving more effective and significantly reduce operator workload, VÖGELE has developed the Smart Pave digital control system. It can be used to automatically control the pave width, position and direction of a Dash 5 paver using virtual references.

Smart Pave uses paving geometries that have been previously stored in John Deere Operations Center™ for construction machinery. The StarFire™ dual antenna system from John Deere ensures that the exact position of the paver is determined. It is permanently installed in the hardtop and enables highly precise control.

The impressive extent to which the new smart automatic functions facilitate asphalt construction in practice was demonstrated on a construction site in Zerf, Rhineland-Palatinate. There, the Lehnen Group used the integrated Smart Pave control system for the first time – with a noticeable increase in efficiency.
