Asphalt recycling with Kleemann machines in New Zealand

Asphalt recycling with Kleemann crushing and screening plants

Kleemann Machines provide a solution not only for rubble recycling. They also offer efficiency, productivity and user-friendliness.

Vernon Developments is a company in Drury, Auckland, New Zealand, which has grown to match the demand on the market. After the death of his father 10 years ago, Cam Vernon and his wife invested revenue from the family-owned farm in the company to keep it afloat.

"We began with excavation work and gradually extended the offer to building work, transport and recycling. Today we offer land development, bulk material and heavy goods transport. Around seven years ago we started getting involved in recycling – on the one hand to save costs and, on the other hand, to reduce the use of new materials. We recognised the demand for high-quality recycled aggregates. After an extensive development process with a lot of testing and detailed improvements, today we can now offer a wide range of recycled aggregates. The reduces accumulations in waste disposal sites, conserves new raw materials and lowers the costs."

MOBICONE MCO 90 EVO2 is the perfect supplement for Vernon Developments

A new feature in the company's machinery, which already includes a Kleemann impact crusher and a screening plant, is the Kleemann cone crusher MOBICONE MCO 90 EVO2. "When we started with the recycling of asphalt, concrete and similar materials, we improvised a lot and cobbled together a lot of existing equipment", explained Cam. "We then obtained the Kleemann plants in a more or less roundabout way and were able to test them through Wirtgen Australia, to whom we had leased land. After we had also examined the competitors, it was clear to us that Kleemann Kleemann had the edge. Reliability and user-friendliness combined with top technology - the machines work at the highest possible level. They also impress with their lower fuel consumption and higher efficiency."

Operating concept SPECTIVE: fast diagnosis, quick remedy

The new crushing plant impresses not only with its efficiency but also with its simple operability. "The operating concept SPECTIVE guides the operators intuitively through the processes", says Cam. Due to increasing requirements, operation of crushing plants is become more and more complex. At the same time, the technology must be reliable and as easy as possible to operate – and all this without the need for lengthy instruction and training periods. This is why the SPECTIVE operating concept was developed: for intuitive and safe operation.

Simple operation of the plant thanks to the 12-inch touch panel

"The cone crusher has been running smoothly for a few months", says Cam. "No machine is perfect. But, with its troubleshooting aids, SPECTIVE provides rapid diagnosis and also a remedy – and we've determined that malfunctions are very often the result of an application error."

We have an extensive portfolio of machines from 1.5 to 30-ton excavators, tractors, trailers, scrapers and rollers, including our own modified equipment. There's no task that's too difficult ", says Cam.

Further Kleemann machines have already been ordered

Vernon Developments also has machines for various crushing and recycling tasks and can therefore deal with an extremely wide variety of challenges.

"From recycled bitumen to concrete, our special machines make tons of recycling material utilisable again for the building industry. We transport, process and sell directly to building companies. We crush many, many tons of residual building materials from different projects in the whole country. With the new cone crusher, we have also started processing asphalt into sealing grit", says the entrepreneur.

Cam is looking forward to working with further Kleemann machines in the near future. "We have already ordered further machines – as far as efficiency, productivity and user-friendliness are concerned, I'm totally convinced."
