On the Hirschberg-Süd industrial estate, situated in the immediate vicinity of the German A5 motorway, a new truck center was to be built along with an off-motorway service area and a fast-food restaurant.
The subsoil that would carry the foundations of the future building and truck parking spaces planned on both sides of the building was of a silty, sandy nature and of moderate bearing capacity. The soil needed to be stabilized prior to commencing the actual construction work. The job was taken on by a reliable team: one tractor-towed stabilizer WS 2500 from Wirtgen and one single-drum compactor 4011 from Hamm.
On an area totalling 11,500 m², the soil was first recovered at a depth of 30 cm and was then mixed with cement in the stabilizer’s variable mixing chamber. Around 15 kg of cement per square metre were added. The single-drum compactor 4011 from Hamm compacted the stabilized mix with the usual ease.
