First-class technology for soil and asphalt compaction

HAMM offers a wide range of products for all aspects of soil and road compaction, utilising leading machine and compaction technology. Along with the technical requirements, ergonomic design and simple operation are prime concerns. And thus, HAMM finds a perfect balance of technology and ergonomic design.

In 1911, Hans Hamm set a milestone when he designed and built the world's first motor-driven road roller. At its headquarters in Tirschenreuth, HAMM continues to set new standards, even today, as regards the design and ergonomics of its compactors, tandem and rubber-tyred rollers as well as compaction with oscillation.

HAMM single-drum compactors

Single-drum compactors from HAMM are mainly used in earthwork construction. A standard feature of all single-drum compactors from HAMM is that both the drum and the rear wheels, or rear axle respectively, are driven, thus ensuring excellent off-road mobility and enabling them to handle even steep gradients.

The broad product range comprises machines from 5 to 25 tons equipped with either smooth drums or padfoot drums. Single-drum compactors in VIO design are even capable of compacting with either vibration or oscillation. Their wide variety of possible applications makes these single-drum compactors versatile and highly economical multi-purpose machines.

HAMM tandem rollers

HAMM tandem rollers in the HD series are steered by pivoting the front and rear carriages relative to one another while the drums themselves are not steered. They are used mainly in asphalt compaction. Rollers used in asphalt paving operations are capable of accelerating, slowing down and steering very gently and smoothly to avoid causing bumps or heaving in the asphalt material. The three-point articulation, which is a standard feature of the tandem rollers in the HD series, ensures steady and reliable handling and control.

HAMM tandem rollers in the DV series are intended for use in asphalt compaction. Rollers used in asphalt paving operations are capable of accelerating, slowing down and steering very gently and smoothly to avoid causing bumps or heaving in the asphalt material. HAMM tandem rollers in the DV series are equipped with two drums and all-wheel drive as a standard feature. They have two pivot points, which enable either separate steering of each drum or analogous steering of both drums.

HAMM static rollers

The compaction performance of three-wheeled rollers is based on their high static linear load which is attributable to their high weight and narrow drum width. Static three-wheeled rollers are suitable for “ironing out” asphalt pavements.

In addition to static compaction, the kneading effect achieved by pneumatic-tyred rollers produces an excellent surface seal, which makes them eminently suitable for “ironing out” the compacted asphalt layer. The heavy-duty models are also ideally suitable for earthwork construction (soil compaction) and recycling operations.
