Breaking the ground for new construction: Udo Till, Mayor of Göppingen; Dr. Gerhard Schumacher, Managing Director of Kleemann GmbH; Martin Maier of Stauferpark GmbH, and Olav Brinker, Senior Planning Officer (from left to right).
The 125,000 sq m site in the “Stauferpark” industrial estate in Göppingen provides ample space for the new Kleemann headquarters.
July 2008
Following a two-year planning period, Kleemann GmbH has started the construction of its new head-quarters. At the end of 2009, the specialist supplier of mobile and stationary crushing and screening equipment used in natural stone processing and recycling will move to its new production site in the east of Göppingen.
Having achieved a double-digit growth in each of the past few years, the company also expects to achieve a turnover in the hundreds of millions of euros in 2008. The construction of the new facility is therefore a necessary and logical step in order to further enhance competitiveness. The currently in-stalled production capacity is no longer sufficient to meet the growing demand.
The company aims to build a high-tech facility with short internal transport routes. Driven by its con-tinuous growth, the company considered the size of the site a key factor when it came to selecting the right location. On the 125,000 sq m plot, a production facility covering an area of 35,000 sq m and a 4,000 sq m administrative building will be built. The generous capacity of the new main production fa-cility will perfectly accommodate the enormous dimensions of the crushing and screening machines.
Kleemann is currently manufacturing mobile crushing and screening units at three production sites and two additional storage facilities, and also manufactures a multitude of stationary plants for natural stone processing and materials recycling. These sites will be merged in the new location. The concen-tration of the entire manufacturing cycle on a single site – from prefabrication to final assembly – will ensure optimized production processes.
Another crucial factor determining the choice of location was its proximity to the existing facility. Not only does the company intend to retain the jobs of its highly skilled staff but additionally plans to create 150 new jobs in the future.
Building upon the process expertise in the manufacture of stationary plant and equipment gained over several decades, Kleemann today enjoys an unrivalled presence in the mobile equipment segment. In over 150 years of company history, Kleemann started to produce crushing and screening units as early as the 1920s, and has been one of the major suppliers driving the development of mobile equipment since the 1980s.
Following the integration of Kleemann in the Wirtgen Group sales organization, further international markets will be gradually covered in the next few years. More than ever before, the company is driven by growth. The Kleemann GmbH construction project is fully in line with the Wirtgen Group philosophy of making long-term investments in locations in Germany.
Kleemann GmbH is a member company of the Wirtgen Group, an expanding and international group of companies doing business in the construction equipment industry.
